A Complex Ambition

This environment, titled "La Fabrica" (Spanish for "The Factory"), was my most ambitious at that point due to its complexity for being the tallest and longer environment that I have ever created, and for the inclusion of foliage.

To make the modeling process faster, keeping in mind that this was intended for videogames, I created a couple of modular pieces to be able to reuse them by duplicating them and rotating them.

Another technique that I used a lot for this environment was the creation of hi-resolution assets and transfer its details into low-resolution ones, most noticeable in the corrugated metals.

Lastly, this environment required the use of the alpha channel for some textures like the foliage and floor of the tower walkway grids. I also used a couple of repeated textures that were combined with decals and foliage to avoid that the repetition was noticeable.

This was a big challenge that took a lot of time, but it was also a big learning experience that helped grow as an artist.
